Confront the enemy, go on the lam, steal some stuff (but leave a note), cut your hair, start a movement - I mean, after all, fair is fair.

Maid to Order

Wow guys, I really don't know what to tell you, except that the 80s as a decade was not holding back on being confident in their controversy. This week, we're watching Maid to Order, a 1987 film that is bold in its privilege and use of terrible songs to cover a complete lack of storyline. If you have fond memories of this movie, you probably forgot the premise, the plot and just how terrible Ally Sheedy's hair is in this thing. I mean bad. It's the most fun! When the world feels absolutely bananas, sometimes you just gotta lean into movies that make you a happy even if they contain somewhat questionable material. This week we are sipping on bevos, calling each other sweet potatoes and watching 1989's Shag. Set in 1963, this movie contains some delightful teens as they venture to Myrtle Beach for one last goonie weekend. There's kissing, there's  teasing, there's squeezing and of course, there's blowing your top. You're gonna love it.

Well guys, we are going to tell you what you already knew when you read the title of this week's episode - this is an Emily pick and it's real weird. Anna to the Infinite Power is not a heartwarming story about math (which I know is what you were hoping for), but a grumpy tale about clones and maybe an argument for nurture over nature? Yes, I said clones. Bitchy ones. Come along and watch with us, won't you?

Halloween

Well, here we are, back for another week of pissing off the horror movie fans with our acerbic wit and highly delightful takes on the entire horror movie genre. That's a joke. Dudes hate us and honestly, we are okay with it. That's why this week, we've waded all the way into the pool of bloody goo and are watching 1978's Halloween. Yes, the OG. Oh and we did it at night... take that, fellas. What did we think? Hmmmm, aside from all the breathy screaming and bad friendships, I guess it was fine.

Let's pretend I need to write a whole paragraph about this movie to help you remember the exceptional plot and delightful storyline, however, we all know that the only thing I need to write about 1987's The Monster Squad is "wolfman's got nards.".  Guys, it's all you remember for a reason. And that's why you always leave a note... Listen Roald Dahl, we appreciate your valiant attempts to keep kids safe by teaching them a lesson, but did you have to do it with so much terror, scalp itch and villainization of chubby kids?  I'll wait... Guys, this week, we watched 1990's The Witches and while Angelica Huston is an icon who should be worshipped until end times, this film was just too manic for our middle-aged brains. We've said it before and we will say it again, our childhood was wild. Happy Spooky Season, y'all.

Spooky season is upon us and this year, guys - we. are. ready. I mean, sorta. Week one features another wildly weird pick straight from the tortured youth of Emily's living room - a 1983 kids movie (?) that might be about sin? Or maybe friendship? Or probably something else entirely that we completely missed because honestly this movie was a lot. And by a lot, I mean I don't really remember what happened aside from some sort of creepy reverse Benjamin Buttoning style merry go round. The Money Pit

Tom Hanks laughing manically into the giant hole in the floor where his bathtub once stood is hands down one of the top scenes in any movie, any where, of all time. I will fight you if you think otherwise. Get excited, because this week, we are watching the 1986 film about poor decision making, things that are too good to be true, and of course, adultery. It's The Money Pit!! Tom Hanks and Shelly Long, folks - you will love it.
