And that's why you always leave a note... Listen Roald Dahl, we appreciate your valiant attempts to keep kids safe by teaching them a lesson, but did you have to do it with so much terror, scalp itch and villainization of chubby kids? I'll wait... Guys, this week, we watched 1990's The Witches and while Angelica Huston is an icon who should be worshipped until end times, this film was just too manic for our middle-aged brains. We've said it before and we will say it again, our childhood was wild. Happy Spooky Season, y'all.

Spooky season is upon us and this year, guys - we. are. ready. I mean, sorta. Week one features another wildly weird pick straight from the tortured youth of Emily's living room - a 1983 kids movie (?) that might be about sin? Or maybe friendship? Or probably something else entirely that we completely missed because honestly this movie was a lot. And by a lot, I mean I don't really remember what happened aside from some sort of creepy reverse Benjamin Buttoning style merry go round. Join us for dry bones, wet meat and 1983's Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Tom Hanks laughing manically into the giant hole in the floor where his bathtub once stood is hands down one of the top scenes in any movie, any where, of all time. I will fight you if you think otherwise. Get excited, because this week, we are watching the 1986 film about poor decision making, things that are too good to be true, and of course, adultery. It's The Money Pit!! Tom Hanks and Shelly Long, folks - you will love it.

Don’t just love it when mandatory high school reading becomes a movie? I mean, pros and cons, right? Either way, Emily gave us an assignment this week and gosh darn it did we earn a solid B+ watching and discussing S.E. (The S stands for seriously, I’m a lady) Hinton’s The Outsiders. It became a film in 1983 and features pretty much all of your favorite pony boys from the 80s - Swayze, Cruise, Lowe, Macchio, Thomas-Howell. Jump in a prepare to be… mmmmm… whelmed.

Beverly Hills, What a thrill! Guys, we are going through a Shelly Long phase and it starts with 1989's feminist redemption story - Troop Beverly Hills. Hated by critics, but universally loved by us two schmos, this film is a delight and we simply aren't interested in varying opinions. Like all good 80's movies, it does have its issues, but none of them are Phyllis Nefler's commitment to good fashion.

On its surface, what's not to love? A big yellow bird, a grumpy green grouch, and tons of friends that are always up for an impromptu sing-a-long. But we are here to tell you that this movie is a dark, sad, and twisted tale about what happens when the powers that be think they know what's best. Why Sesame Street picked this plot for their first feature-length film, we'll never know, but check out this episode to learn more about the 1985 classic, Follow that Bird.

Why are these people always rushing to get to and/or running late for their illegal, after-hours attempted murders of one another? I just feel like this should be something you plan your day around, you make a schedule for, you leave a little early for to beat traffic for - but, no, not this group of ragtag, totally messed up, amazing looking medical students who perform experiments on one another in an under construction art museum/medical school. Guys, get ready, it's 1990's Flatliners. Bacon, Baldwin, Sutherland, Roberts... PLATT! What a time to be alive or in this case, half dead while your "doctor" friends try to resuscitate you.

Get excited guys, we are dipping our toe into the 1970's this week, with Emily's insane, yet incredible choice of 1978's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Never before have I meant it more when I say this movie has everything... Peter Frampton, Peter Frampton in overalls, feathered bangs, weird robots, the Bee Gees, Phyllis Diller, Steve Martin, the 5th Beatle, and Steven "look at my beautiful mouth" Tyler. Want to know what it doesn't have? A script. That's right, no words, just songs. And somehow, despite that, I can still promise you, that you'll be delighted. De. Light. Ed.

Who framed him? We honestly could not tell you. Why? We don't know that either. This week we are watching 1988's Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, a film that delighted neither of us and really made us question the fact that Disney has a whole area dedicated to this odd cartoon rabbit. I think this firmly falls into the boy movie category (we're looking at you, Jessica Rabbit) and for that you are welcome. For those of you who love it, we'd be happy to hear what all the fuss was about...

Oh boy, guys... I have some great news for you. If you thought deeply buried psychological trauma wasn't a thing, this episode is here to prove otherwise. How do we know, you ask? Well, we watched 1985's old people go to space drama, Cocoon and Kim had a nervous breakdown on mic. You'll love it - we promise.
